THE FOUR COMPONENTS OF SCORING
1. Clean Striking: This is a key part of scoring a match, clean and effective blows being landed.
2. Defense: This area of scoring is given to a fighter that is slipping or blocking blows, blocking throws, countering on the ground, making the other fighter miss. Besides component 1, this is the second easiest of the criteria used to score a match.
3. Effective Aggressiveness: Sometimes confused with one fighter simply coming forward and throwing blows, "effective aggressiveness" means going at your opponent in a manner that scores points. A fighter that is putting forth aggression that amounts to nil would be considered "ineffective aggressiveness." For example; Fighter "A" might be coming forward, but at the same time he is being schooled by fighter "B."
4. Ring Generalship: This is the most difficult of the criteria utilized in scoring a match. To make it real simple, ring generalship is awarded to the man/woman controlling the tempo of the fight and imposing their will.
9) DURATION OF ROUNDS
Preliminary Match All preliminary matches will consists of One -2 minute continuous action round. (time will stop at referee signal due to equipment adjustment, standing 8 count, or to stand fighters up) In the event of a tie there will be an immediate 1 minute overtime round. A fighter will win overtime by either being the first to score 5 points or being ahead in points after the round ends.
FINAL MATCHES Finals will consist of Two –3 minute continuous action rounds with 1 minute rest between rounds. During the 1 minute break between rounds the referee will check the judges' score keeper to determine a leader, the centre referee will then indicate who the leader is, and then the referee will signal for the second round to begin. In the case of a tie there will be a 2 minute overtime round after a 1 minute rest period At the end of matches the centre referee will assemble the competitors in the centre of the ring, he/she will then check the judges' scores and declare the winner.
12) Weighing-In
It is mandatory for all adult fighting competitors - who fight in a weighted division - to weigh-in before engaging in competition. Only one official weigh-in is required. All adult fighting competitors must fight in their weight division. A competitor cannot fight in a weight division in which he/she does not make the proper weight. This means a competitor cannot go up to a heavier weight division or go down to a lower weight division. If the weight official feels a competitor is trying to weigh heavier by wearing unreasonable clothes or equipment, he/she will be asked to take off those articles of clothing before weighing-in. The weight division and/or actual weight in pounds must be recorded on the competitors competition card.
